O Level Chemistry Tuition: Tips To Ace The GCE O Level Chemistry

In secondary school, students in the Secondary 4 Express take either Combined Science (with Electives) or Pure Science (Pure Chem and Pure Phys/Bio). 

Combined Science is counted as one subject that consists of Chemistry and Physics (or Biology). Combined Science students are required to take an Elective subject (Dnt/ Art/ Food and Nutrition).

Whereas, students are also allowed to take Double Pure or Triple Pure. Double pure students would typically take Pure Chemistry and Pure Physics OR Pure Biology. Triple pure students take all three sciences as individual subjects. 

As you can infer, the subject Chemistry is unavoidable and has to be taken regardless which combination.

Pure Chemistry 

Pure chemistry students take a total of 3 papers.

With respect to the combination, the students chose, for 

Science (Physics, Chemistry), Syllabus 5076

Paper 1 will be based on the Physics and Chemistry sections of the syllabus.

Paper 2 will be based on the Physics section of the syllabus.

Paper 3 will be based on the Chemistry section of the syllabus.

And Paper 5 will be based on the Physics and Chemistry sections of the syllabus.

 

Science (Chemistry, Biology), Syllabus 5078

Paper 1 will be based on the Chemistry and Biology sections of the syllabus.

Paper 3 will be based on the Chemistry section of the syllabus.

Paper 4 will be based on the Biology section of the syllabus.

And Paper 5 will be based on the Chemistry and Biology sections of the syllabus.

Examination Tips for GCE O Level Chemistry 

1 – Know the periodic table well 

2 – Know the right spelling of the chemicals 

3 – Ability to identify the question type and requirements 

4 – Answer the question promptly with keywords
