For students already feeling overwhelmed by the new academic year during the pandemic, especially our graduating cohorts, fret not! Tutopiya is here ease your worries and anxieties with these tips! Here are some tips to help our graduating students glide back to school smoothly during this pandemic. Here’s a quick summarised infographic of the points that will be touched on. 1 - Be prepared for more frequent HBLs in term 3 Back to school has never felt so different before with safety distancing measures in place and the compulsory mask-wearing t all times. Students never thought one day school would be mostly home-based until the pandemic happened. For the new academic year, schools will reopen fully with most co-curricular activities (CCAs) and school activities allowed, and higher-risk activities suspended or limited to a smaller group cap. According to the Straits Times, Schools will conduct home-based learning (HBL) for students for at least two days a month, starting from the third term of next year. This is so that it becomes part of the new normal, coronavirus pandemic or not. This change will affect all Secondary and Junior College students. 2 - Take notes of important dates Noting important school dates, terms and holidays will help you to plan ahead in due time for your national examinations at the end of the year. This is extremely crucial for our graduating students since you will most likely be cramming revisions and making more time for tuition consultation and tutor consultations. What better way to start the year right by organising your school calendar and planning things out ahead of time! 4 - The back to school game plan With the pandemic ongoing, our students have found ways to keep themselves motivated and energised during this period to keep their heads up and continue to push hard for their studies. Finding a study buddy! Many students find themselves more motivated to study when they have study buddies. Find your friends to study together (but of course with safe distancing measures) or alternatively, you can video call your friends at home and study ‘together’! Finding the right study space The school would still encourage students to head back home after they are done with school for the day. However, Tutopiya knows that it is not everybody’s cup of tea to study at home. Here’s a list of some study places you can head to during Phase 3. 5 - Building mental stamina to keep going! Back to school planning should not just be about the first few weeks of school. Graduating students have to be conscious about not burning out too soon and be able to sustain themselves all the way up till their nationals. Start by creating positive study habits for this back to school season to keep yourself going for the rest of the year! Here’s how you can increase your productivity level and keep going!
